Systems Development
Application development is first and foremost about understanding
customer needs. Our ability to see things from the client's perspective
allows us to help throughout the design phase to translate needs
into systems that do what you need done. Like most things, doing
this well requires both native ability and experience. And in the
end, doing things right the first time costs less.
Life Cycle Development Services
- High level system design services: taking a business need through to a functional specification using a methodology
that includes creating prototype input/output user interfaces
and iterative client meetings to elicit requirements and get feedback.
We have over 25 years of experience in helping clients design
successful systems the first time around.
- Programming and programmer management: we are highly adept
at efficient programming. We use version control and collaboration on all projects which allows for an orderly development/test/production progression.
- Database design and administration: IBFX has extensive experience
in both relational and non-relational databases, and provides
highly efficient, secure, database designs to support the applications
we build.
- Software security: IBFX produces "safe" applications
designed to thwart a malicious internal or external user.
- System Hosting/Administration: IBFX provides these services in conjunction
with the applications we build, if desired.
- Systems Integration: IBFX always looks for the best way to
tie data and systems together. This helps reduce duplicate effort
and helps prevent data redundancy.
Technology
Our Systems Design consulting is platform agnostic. But while IBFX has worked on a variety of software platforms, we feel
it's important to be honest about our areas of especial expertise.
You probably have a chosen platform, and we want to make sure we're
a good fit.
For the last four years, IBFX has worked primarily using two suites
of technologies: ASP.Net using C# on Microsoft platforms for one
group, objectified Perl and PHP on Linux. Both groups are adept at Web based interfaces and SQL servers. Both make
extensive use of client side programming in Javascript, including AJAX, to automate
the user interface. A recent, very succesful project (in beta) was programmed in Ruby on Rails. We have also completed projects in Java.
All projects utilize version control to ensure stable releases during the development cycle. We also provide client accesible project management
tools such as web based task management and time reporting.

Time and Attendance |
US Army Corps of Eng. |
ASP.Net C# |
| The Time and Attendance System was designed for use within an organization that tracks time for both attendance and charging purposes. It is highly integrated with the Corp's Financial Management System. The system supports 600+ concurrent users without noticeable performance degredation. AJAX technology was employed to limit web page refreshes. The system includes integration of Active Directory data with the Corp's Employee database to guarantee accurate and timely employee data and security. |

Vehicle Reservation |
US Army Corps of Eng. |
ASP.Net C# |
| This is a fairly sophisticated system for scheduling vehicle reservations for organizations that maintain their own pool or fleet of vehicles. The system maintains an inventory of vehicles by type, ascertains availability of a vehicle of the selected type for the requested length of time, assigns vehicles from the pool just-in-time to distribute mileage, calculates the distance of multi-hop travel using a geographic database, and accommodates charging by time and/or mileage. The system also allows for maintenance scheduling and long term “open ended” use of a vehicle. |
| |
Sharepoint Portal |
US Army Corps of Eng. |
Sharepoint, ASP.Net C# |
| The Corp's New England Division implemented Sharepoint Portal Server. IBFX helped in the design of the portal site, indexing, creation of custom web parts, and trouble shooting. We also assisted with the conversion to Sharepoint MOSS. |
| |
Visitor Registration |
US Army Corps of Eng. |
ASP.Net C# |
| This system lets employees schedule visitors, including long term visitors. It provides an easy to use screen for guards to use at various points (guard station, front desk). It is designed to allow the guard to maintain maximum attention to the customer: other systems tried by the Corps, New England, actually became security risks by diverting guards' attention. |
| |
Service Request / Help Desk |
US Army Corps of Eng. |
ASP.Net C# |
| Starting out as a help desk system, the Service Request System became a general way for an employee to request services from any internal organization. The system handles IT support requests for computers, phones, and software. It also handles requests for graphical design, audio visual, library, security, and a number of other areas. A new organization or service can be added through the administrative interface without furether programming. |

Shopping Cart |
Infoboard |
Perl |
| The Infoboard shopping cart e-commerce system was built in the early days of the Web (1996) to support the needs of Infoboard's web hosting clients. It is still in use and features easy integration with web pages - including those under Content Management systems (CMS) - integration with several payment gateways and shippers, real time digital content delivery and many other features. It is supported for existing customers only. We mention it here mostly because it indicates are commitment to support existing customers (references furnished on request). |
